This project addresses the recent massive youth protests in Hong Kong and the government coping strategies by looking at three questions: 1) what are views of local post-secondary students in Hong Kong regarding the regional cooperation between Hong Kong and mainland China? 2) does the government-funded China-Hong Kong exchange program have an effect on these views? 3) to what extent the effect of the exchange program can apply to other Hong Kong youth population? In this project, we attempt to illuminate these questions using a randomized control-group pretest-posttest experiment design, by drawing on two surveys on the experience of field trips to mainland China for local post-secondary students in Hong Kong.
